Wesley Channell’s photography exhibition “Portraits of Serbia: Hope for the Future” was opened on Tuesday, March 22 at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina in Novi Sad.
Exhibition shows 116 portrait photographies. Each of them speaks about the future Serbia the people in the pictures would like to see. The exhibition is the result of a two year work. The author of the exhibition, Wesley Channell, traveled around Serbia and talked with the participants about their hopes and expectations for the future of the country.
This exhibition demonstrates the diversity of the people living in this country. It shows doctors, farmers, craftsmen, sportsmen, musicians, hunters, ajvar producers, carpet weavers, and many others. They are of different ages, and they come from 29 cities of Serbia.
While addressing the audience, Mr. Channell emphasized that he did not want to impose his ways of thinking, but that during the preparations of the exhibition he listened to what the people of Serbia had to say and that he conveyed their messages through the photographs.
The exhibition will be on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina in Novi Sad until April 3, 2022.
