Milica

Milica is 22 years old. She is a student of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Novi Sad. She studies French and Italian languages.

What Milica would like to see in the future is that others have no prejudices about Serbia. “I would like circumstances to change so that what can be seen at the first glance is what we really are and what we carry within ourselves.”

Milica is proud of Serbia and its people. “I don’t want to sound like an average Serb who lives here and defends their own people, but the Serbs are truly incredible people. I had the opportunity to travel and meet people from different countries and I got the impression that our hearts are big and full of love. No matter how bad the picture of us in the world is, when someone gets to know us, they change their mind. We stick together and we are ready to help each other. I think this is what we need to preserve here, and not change it for something else.”

The insecurity of the nation, on the other hand, is something Milica considers to be the negative side of Serbia. “It worries me that we are insecure about ourselves as a nation. We let others manipulate us, and we let them influence us, and we allow this because we depend on them in a way. I want this to change.”

Milica doesn’t try to look as others would expect her, but she tries to live and do things that are of interest to her and that make her happy day after day, little by little.
