Mirko

Mirko, 58 years old, holds a degree in Chemistry Science from the University of Belgrade and is also a sculptor.

When Mirko envisions the future of Serbia, he prioritizes a country that offers its citizens security. He expresses concern about the current situation where students graduate from school uncertain about their employment prospects. Mirko believes that a minimum level of security is essential for people to lead normal lives and suggests that Serbia should embrace a modern spirit, whether through education or culture.

Mirko highlights the natural beauty of Serbia, its good-hearted people, and the inherent heroism of the Serbian population as positive attributes. He refers to this ‘Serbiosity’ as the unique heroism of the Serbian people. He values the importance of standing out and being noticed rather than conforming or blending in, comparing it to being a distinct color in nature.

However, Mirko is worried about Serbia lagging behind global trends. He notes that while the world keeps progressing, Serbia appears to be stuck in the past. The lack of continuity in the country’s economy and the tendency to frequently start and stop without a clear direction are areas of concern.

Mirko has an interesting background, hailing from Gospic, Lika, and having attended the same school as Nikola Tesla. He once served as a poetry editor for a Belgrade newspaper and recalls a poem that emphasized the importance of being different. Though he didn’t fully grasp its meaning back then, today he appreciates the value of standing out in a world where some things are similar above the water’s surface while others remain different below. Mirko enjoys diving into the depths while staying partially above the surface, in touch with reality.
